If you've found a loose or stray dog, your county animal control office is who to call. Search the directory for the office that covers your area — most have a main line and a separate after-hours number. Don't see yours? Add it so your neighbors know exactly who to call.
In an emergency — an aggressive animal, a dog that's been hit by a car, or a bite to a person — call 911 or your local police dispatch first. For a calm, containable stray, call animal control.
